Colombian and U.S. authorities are working together to have narco-kingpin Maximiliano Bonilla Orozco, alias “Valenciano” included in a list of the world’s ten most-wanted drug traffickers.
“Including Valenciano in the list of the world’s most wanted drug traffickers is being worked on, because he is highly dangerous … the police are working tirelessly on locating this criminal and dismantling his drug trafficking network,” said police commissioner Oscar Naranjo.
“Intelligence information compiled by the national police signals that at least twice … Valenciano has moved to the Bolivar and Atlantico departments, from which he coordinated drug shipments outside the country,” Naranjo said.
The 37-year-old drug lord was one of the leaders of Medellin-based “Office of Envigado” gang, which engaged in drug trafficking and other criminal activities before splintering off into two new gangs, due to pressure from authorities.
The U.S. announced last week that it will pay a $5 million reward for information on Valenciano.
Valenciano has been linked to the transport of over $25m in drug-related proceeds from the United States to Mexico and in 2008 was indicted in the Eastern District of New York.
