Violence between soccer fans in central Colombia left 11 civilians and three policemen wounded, reported Radio Caracol Tuesday.
Authorities announced the arrest of 40 people at the “Holocausto” bar in Caldas, Manizales Department, after clashes between fans of local team Once Caldas and Medellin giants Atletico Nacional, Caracol reported. The two teams had not been playing in the city prior to the incident.
The confrontation apparently occurred between the Palogrande Stadium and Avenida Santander, as fans reportedly smashed shop windows and fought with knives and other weapons.
The violence continued for approximately one hour, until the police successfully intervened. All of the wounded, including the three officers, were taken to local medical centers for treatment, according to Caracol.
