Authorities in Cali arrested one of the most important commanders of Los Rastrojos, the drug gang held responsible for most of the drug trafficking in the south west of Colombia.
The arrestant, Feider Rolando Aponte Castillo, alias ‘Tomas’, is considered the top capo of the drug gang and managed all drug related activities in behalf of Luis Enrique Serna and Javier Calle Serna, who are suspected to be the leaders of the powerful gang.
According to National Police commissioner Oscar Naranjo, “the arrestant requested to be extradited to the United States, has committed crimes in the organizations of (paramilitary leader) alias ‘Macaco’ and (Norte de Valle cartel leader) ‘Jabon’ and has valuable information about the seized containers with more than 20 million dollars in Buenaventura.”
Aponte Castillo was able to have his data deleted from the National Registry’s archives three times, making it difficult for authorities to find out his whereabouts. “We can say he died and resurrected on three occasions, making his past identity and crimes disappear,” Naranjo explained.
Together with the drug lord, Police was able to seize large amounts of cocaine and arms. The United States wants Aponte Castillo extradited to face drug traffcking charges.
