The U.S. announced it will pay a $5 million reward for information on Colombian drug lord Maximiliano Orozco Bonilla alias “Valenciano,” one of the leaders of Medellin’s “Office of Envigado” gang, reports Caracol Radio.
“Orozco Bonilla is the leader of an extensive transnational narcotics exportation and transportation organization that distributes thousands of kilograms of cocaine from Colombia, through Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico, to the United States,” reads a statement issed by the U.S. Secretary of State Narcotics Rewards Program.
The statement also links him with the ELN, one of the Colombian insurgent groups considered terrorist by the U.S., and the Mexican drug trafficking organization Los Zetas.
Valenciano has been linked to the transport of over $25m in drug-related proceeds from the United States to Mexico and in 2008 was indicted in the Eastern District of New York.
