His interactions with coach Louis Van Gaal have at times been somewhat rocky as a result. Falcao himself once mentioned that their relationship was “difficult to classify”, a statement that can only be interpreted as less than positive.
Van Gaal has sought to dispel rumors surrounding Falcao’s future by asserting that no decision has been made and that “at the end of the season we will decide.”
Many have also claimed that Falcao’s tweet was simply a thank-you to all Manchester United fans and was not meant to be interpreted as a comment on the future of his career.
Despite his struggles in the Premier League and with Manchester United, Falcao continues to enjoy considerable success and support from the Colombian national team, suggesting there is likely still a home for Falcao in Colombian soccer.
Argentine coach Jose Pekerman has also reaffirmed on numerous occasions that Falcao’s position on the national team is secure.
