Colombia has got much safer the past ten years, especially after ‘this guy was killed,” Sofia Vergara told David Letterman on Thursday, hours after the death of FARC commander Mono Jojoy was announced.
“I feel better knowing that today you killed a guy in Colombia,” Letterman responded.
Explaining to Letterman that “Mono Jojoy” was not your average murder victim, Vergara elaborated that “it was a bad guy that was finally caught and killed.”
The Barranquilla-born beauty went on to praise her home town for its beautiful women and good food. “We eat rice, beans, delicious soups, meat, chicken, vegetables. Everything is organic,” Vergara said.
It is the second time the Colombian actress has defended Colombia, and particularly its food. Vergara almost got into a fist fight with U.K. chef Gordon Ramsay at “The Tonight Show” in August after the Brit said that typical Colombian arequipe “tastes like f**king fudge.”
Vergara wasn’t the only Colombian on Letterman Thursday. Singer Shakira performed to promote her new album “The sun is out.”
