Shakira on Friday won a lawsuit against two ex-employees who claim the singer threatened to kill them after they refused to cook her chicken.
Husband and wife, Divier Hernandez and Maritza de Avila, were seeking a payout of $250,000 apiece for unfair dismissal, however a Spanish judge ordered the Colombian popstar to pay just $1262 to the former workers. The couple, who were sacked in October, 2012, rejected a sum of around $16,000 previously offered by Shakira’s defense lawyers during the trial.
The judge also dismissed all allegations relating to threats and stated that the accusations were fabricated in an attempt to damage the singer’s image.
“There is no indication of the existence of these threats,” the judge clarified.
The judge’s decision comes a week after a public hearing in Barcelona, Spain, where both parties appeared before the judge alongside lawyers and witnesses.
