Medellin is set to host the International Congress for Victims of
Terrorism on 29th and 30th of May. The congress seeks to recover the
individual and the collective memory and to create an awareness that
violence does not happen again.
The meeting, organized by the Visible Victims Foundation and the Sergio Arboleda University, will bring together 1000 victims and 600 guests from Spain, Northern Ireland, United States, Rwanda, Mexico, Chile, Argentina and Colombia.
“Colombia has the right to learn the truth and to create a memory” is the slogan of the meeting which has its fifth anniversary this year, Radio Caracol reported Monday.
Colombians and foreigners can listen to stories of those who managed to prove that love, solidarity and integrity can fight violence.
Colombia’s president Alvaro Uribe, Spanish Prince Felipe de Borbon and his wife Princess Letizia Ortiz will attend the opening ceremony.
