A Bogota court on Thursday denied a request to annul the trial against an extradited Colombian drug trafficker.
The judgement call of Luis Gomez Bustamante, alias “Rasguño,” who was extradited to the United States in 2007 for drug-elated crimes, will go ahead as planned despite his defense’s requesting annulment of the 2010 charges.
His defense noted that prosecution is not required and there are some solid grounds for annulment, however the plea was dismissed by the court.
Rasguño will face charges of illicit enrichment and money laundering.
The 54-year old suspect became one of the main capos of the now-defunct Norte del Valle cartel in the 1990s . He was arrested in Cuba in 2004.
