World renown Colombian referee was honored by the South American Soccer Confederation (CSF) upon his retirement from international soccer, El Espectador reported Thursday.
Oscar Julian Ruiz was presented with an inscribed plaque in the shape of a football as a testament to his “remarkable career” as aCSF referee by the president of the Confederation Nicolas Leoz.
Ruiz, considered one of the best referees in the world, will arbitrate his final international game Thursday evening when Estudiantes of Argentina play Cerro Porteño of Paraguay in the Copa Libertadores.
The Colombian, who made his professional debut in 1992, announced he is to be director of a FIFA program for the training of South American referees.
