At least seven people died when a car bomb exploded in the
town of Convención in the east Colombian department of Norte de
Santander.
The bomb exploded at the moment a police patrol passed through the town. At the same time the patrol was attacked with hand-made mortars.
The attacked killed three policemen and four civilians. Fifteen people are reported injured.
Authorities say Colombia’s second largest guerrilla group ELN is responsible for the attack.
