Senator Moreno remains in jail

by Adriaan Alsema May 10, 2011

Colombia news - Ivan Moreno

Colombia’s Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that Senator Ivan Moreno, brother of suspended Bogota mayor Samuel Moreno, is not allowed to leave jail until after he has faced the corruption charges against him.

Moreno was arrested on April 28 after being accused of receiving money from the Nule Group when the disgraced construction company were granted public works in the Colombian capital or the company was able to charge more for delays in construction.

Moreno’s brother was suspended as mayor of Bogota last week over his alleged responsibility in the same corruption scandal.
