In its efforts to improve the image of the country and President Alvaro Uribe
and to increase foreign investor confidence, Colombia’s Presidency more
prominently offers news in English on its website.
The Presidency’s website already extensively covered President Alvaro Uribe’s actions in Spanish, but will now focus more on a foreign audience, translating this news to English and promoting the English news section more visible on the front page.
The news section also offers links to a selected number of articles about Colombia in foreign media.
According to media reports, the Presidency has twelve journalists on the payroll to continuously follow the President and report on his visits, speeches and public statements.
