Colombian manufacturers say Canadian bikinis are “diapers” and promise, after being persuaded by Canadian designers, to help introduce the much smaller Colombia-style bikinis in Canada.
Two Vancouver-based designers have taken on the task of introducing Colombian bikinis, considered relatively small by North American standards, in the northern hemisphere.
Initially the two Vancouver sisters were met with resistence from Colombian suppliers, who said that introducing the Colombian bikini was too risky due to Canadian customers only wanting to wear “diapers,” which apparently is a Colombian term for the more shielding North American bikinis.
The Vancouver fashion duo has now convinced the Colombian suppliers that there is a market for skimpy swimwear in Canada.
“The most popular so far is the smallest cut […] People are jumping on it,” one of the sisters told Canada.com
The bikinis are manufactured in Colombia and are considered “well-crafted” and expected to “stay on the body well.”
