A powerful bomb exploded Thursday close to the Bogota headquarters of national broadcaster Caracol Radio, reportedly injuring at least six people.
The blast occurred at 5.30AM as Caracol journalist Dario Arizmendi began his daily broadcast. The seventh floor ceiling collapsed above Arizmendi and several colleagues. The twelve-floor building was evacuated immediately and surrounding building have also been affected.
The office of former Colombian President Cesar Gaviria is located in the same building.
General Cesar Pinzon, Bogota police commander did not rule out a car bomb as the cause of the blast. An anti-explosives unit will investigate the cause of the explosion.
