Colombian President Alvaro Uribe Monday met with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary
Clinton to discuss the pending free trade pact and Plan Colombia, the
multi-billion dollar plan to help Colombia combat coca production.
“It was a very important conversation,” Uribe said after the meeting, that according to the President was “a detailed overview of our bilateral agenda.”
According to the Presidency’s news service, Clinton and Uribe discussed Plan Colombia and the free trade pact between the two countries that is still pending in Congress.
“Secretary of State Mrs Hillary Clinton is very interested in Colombia (…) in the general situation of the country and the details, in Plan Colombia and the issue of the FTA,” Uribe said.
“In all, it was a long, constructive and comprehensive conversation,” Colombia’s Head of State concluded.
