Colombian singer Shakira on Wedneday announced via Facebook her global baby shower in partnership with UNICEF.
“The date approaches!” declared Shakira on the social media website. “And we’d like to invite you to participate in our world baby shower,” an event aimed at the purpose of raising funds for undernourished infants.
“Every couple who are expecting a baby, share, like us, the same dreams and hopes for their children,” Shakira said. “However, many do not have the same opportunities to provide a happy childhood free from preventable and easily curable. Together we can change this.”
For that reason, Shakira and her boyfriend Gerard Pique partnered with UNICEF to host a global baby shower that acts as a fundraiser. The fundraiser serves to raise funds that will go to ensuring critical healthcare needs for underpriveliged infants, as well as protection against malaria and other serious diseases.
Shakira Mebarak and boyfriend Gerard Pique, a soccer player for FC Barcelona, are happily pregnant and expecting a baby boy in early 2013.
