Colombia’s national police announced the death of two alleged leaders of the ELN.
According to local media, Colombia’s air force bombed the Ernesto Che Guevara Front of the ELN in the municipality of Istmina in the western department of Choco.
In a statement, authorities said joint efforts by the national police and the air force in Operation Marquesa killed “Pedro” or “El Flaco,” the second leader of the front and “Santiago,” the third leader in command.
Officials revealed that “Pedro” and “Santiago” had 17 and 12 years of experience with the organization respectively.
Thus far, the operation has yielded two nine-millimeter pistols, radios, food, medicine, and documents of interest to the police.
