Colombian actor John Leguizamo will reprise the role of “Sid” in the fourth installment of the popular “Ice Age” series which is due to premiere in theaters July 13.
In “Ice Age: Continental Drift,” directed by Steve Martino and Mike Thurmeier, Leguizamo will once again play the lovable but lazy bear as he accompanies friends Manny (played by Ray Romano) and Diego (Dennis Leary) in an attempt to return home after the supercontinent breaks up.
“The great thing about these films is that you become a 5-year-old child again,” said the actor. “You enjoy yourself, you get all crazy. It’s like when you played alone in childhood.”
Luguizamo’s two children, Alega and Lucas, will also be featured in minor roles for the second time in the series.
“I was so proud to see them there taping and they are very good,” said Leguizamo of his children. “They put a lot of drama into their voices and added a lot of fear when they had to have fear, or laughter. They’re good actors.”
In the fourth chapter of the series some new actors will join the cast, including Jennifer Lopez as the saber-toothed tiger Shira and Wanda Sykes as Sid’s crotchety grandmother, known solely as “Granny.”
