Colombian striker Jose Correa will move to United States MLS side Chivas USA, according to a statement released on the Liga Postobon website.
19-year-old Correa, who was recently called in to the national team squad and Saturday scored twice to take his season tally to six, said, “I am very happy to make my dream come true of playing overseas.”
“Boyaca Chico will always be my home and I am very proud to belong to this wonderful institution, but now I hope to do good things in the MLS to earn a place in the team.” He added.
If he earns a starting role, Correa will likely partner Colombian veteran Juan Pablo Angel up front, while defender Jhon Valencia is also on the club’s books, having moved from 2011 Colombian champions Junior at the end of last year.
The terms of the move involved Chivas acquiring an 80% stake in the player, while Boyaca Chico retained 20% ownership, guaranteeing the Colombian side a share of profits in the event of any future big money transfer.
The Liga Postobon statement did not confirm the exact fee and date of the transfer.
