5 killed, 3 injured in northern Colombia shooting

Five people were killed and another three were injured in a rural area in the north of Colombia Sunday when armed men opened fire at a group of locals .

According to local authorities, armed men arrived at a bar and opened fire at a group of locals little after midnight.

The shooting took place in a rural area of the village of Remedios, located in the east of the Antioquia department where several armed groups are active because its strategic location for drug trafficking.

The authorities made no statement about the suspected perpetrators, but said that extra police were sent to the area to restore order.
