The White House announced that U.S. President Barack Obama will meet with his Colombian counterpart Juan Manuel Santos this Friday at a United Nations meeting in New York.
According to El Tiempo, National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes said Obama is very interested in meeting with the Colombian president to discuss the progress in their countries’ relations. Santos will be the only Latin American leader Obama meets with at the U.N. conference, indicating the “important alliance” between the two states, said Rhodes.
The leaders have not met face-to-face since Santos’ inauguration on August 7.
