Police arrested “El Indio,” believed to be the leader of the FARC’s 26th Front, in Bogota on Friday. The guerrilla boss is accused of kidnapping the former governor of Meta, Alan Jara.
According to the authorities, El Indio planned the kidnapping, transported Jara and handed him over to FARC boss “Mono Jojoy.”
Jara was kidnapped on Juy 15, 2001 and liberated February 3, 2009.
El Indio was believed to be hiding out in Bogota due to the heavy police presence in southern Colombia, according to Caracol Radio.
Police had been tracking the guerrilla, who was in possession of a false national identification card when arrested. He was wanted for rebellion and kidnapping.
