The families of two Colombian journalists murdered in 1991 said they will ask the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights to investigate the case.
According to Spanish press agency EFE, the families of El Espectador journalists Julio Daniel Chaparro and Jorge Enrique Torres want the international body to investigate the double homicide after Colombian prosecutors announced to shelve the 20-year old case.
The son of Chaparro told EFE that “there were irregularities in the investigation which was not exhaustive, that’s why we resort to international bodies to find the truth.”
The two journalists were murdered in the Antioquian town of Segovia when investigating a paramilitary massacre of 50 locals.
