Families of soldiers and policemen held captive by the FARC are hopeful
their relatives will be released soon, they said Tuesday after meeting
with High Commissioner for Peace and Reintegration, Frank Pearl, in
Bogota.
“We left [the meeting] with great hope and we are very optimistic,” Marleny Orjuela, chairman of Asfamipaz, a foundation for families of former hostages, told local newspapers.
During the meeting, which lasted one hour, the families of the FARC hostages asked Pearl to expedite the release of their loved ones.
Pearl started last Friday to talk to the Catholic Church and the Red Cross about his participation in the liberation of the kidnapped soldiers and policemen.
