A small bomb in a cardboard box, with a flag from the ELN guerrilla group, is reportedly found on a bridge in Medellin and disarmed by police.
Amid the traffick flow in the south of Medellin early Tuesday morning, the authorities detected the presence of the suspicious package accompanied by a flag of the ELN, who are claiming responsibility.
Immediately, experts cordoned off the sector to prevent the flow of vehicles in both directions which generated a massive traffic jam.
Experts proceeded to examine the package and through a controlled precision operation made an explosion that caused no damage to the bridge, allowing the resumption of traffic to the south and center of Medellin, and also towards the municipality of Envigado.
Colombia Reports called to confirm the reports with the Medellin Police. As of yet the police cannot confirm the incident.
Colombia‘s second largest guerrilla group, the ELN (National Liberation Army), was originally formed as a Marxist-Leninist/Liberation Theology movement. Today however, the group as currently constituted bears little resemblance to its founding ideology.
