Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and his Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro fell out on Friday after Maduro promised to pay part of a $800 million debt to Colombian businesses.
Following Chavez’s remarks before press that all relations with Colombia were now “fully restored,” Maduro enthusiastically announced that Venezuela would begin paying the massive debt by transferring $200 million within the next two weeks.
According to anonymous sources in Caracas, Maduro had not consulted with his superior, causing the immediate rage of Chavez, who told the Foreign Minister to pay the debt himself.
