Anything is still possible in the Colombian Copa Mustang after Sunday’s
games. Independiente Medellín move back into second place, while
Deportivo Cali successfully defended their third.
Leaders Tolima have little left to play for as they are already certain of a spot in the next round. Envigado took advantage and secured a narrow victory thanks to a converted spot kick from Morantes in the 56th minute.
Independiente Medellín needed two late goals to beat La Equidad, who had taken the lead through Torres (penalty) in the 53rd minute. Pérez then converted a spot kick for DIM in the 80th minute and Alvarez got the winner with only two minutes to go. La Equidad are now eighth and need a better result next week to maintain themselves in the top eight.
Deportivo Cali beat Deportes Quindío 2-0 with two goals in the first half. Dominguez got the opener on 13 minutes and Montero doubled the advantage twelve minutes later.
Junior Barranquilla travelled to face Atlético Huila and returned home with three points in the pocket thanks to Padilla’s winning goal in the 24th minute.
América de Cali were held to a goalless draw at Deportivo Pasto, and are now to be found in sixth position. Pasto meanwhile are in sixteenth place.
Santa Fé moved into the top eight, the seventh place to be precise, thanks to a convincing 3-0 win over Cúcuta Deportivo. Delgado scored in the very first minute, and Nazarith made it 2-0 shortly after the break. The third and final goal came from Anchico in the 87th minute.
Deportivo Pereira dropped out of the top eight due to a 1-0 defeat by Once Caldas. The only goal of the match was scored by Velazquez in the 40th minute.
Millonarios are also out of the top eight, having been held to a 1-1 draw by Atlético Bucaramanga. The Bogotá outfit did take the lead through Milton on 66 minutes but Sarmiento equalised almost immediately.
As things stand now, the next round would consist of Tolima, Independiente Medellín, Deportivo Cali, Junior, Nacional, América, Santa Fé and La Equidad.
