Colombia will give away 100,000 flowers to Moscow for the celebration
of the country´s Victory Day, said a representative of the Colombian
association of flower exporters on Monday.
The ambassador of Colombia in Russia,
Diego Tobón, promised in Bogota during a meeting of the
Colombian-Russian intergovernmental commission that the streets of
Moscow “will be decorated with beautiful flowers of Colombia”, mostly roses and carnations.
Every 9 May, Russia celebrates the
victory over Nazi Germany,
while remembering those who died in order to achieve it. The Colombian flowers will decorate the tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the park of Victory in Moscow, said RIA Novosti, Russian News and Information Agency on Monday.
At global level, Colombia is
the second largest exporter of fresh flowers after the Netherlands and
the first in the U.S. market.
