An airplane crashed in Colombia’s eastern department of Arauca, injuring 5 people.
The crash was apparently caused by a mechanical failure within yards of landing on the runway at the Santiago Perez Quiroz airport in Arauca.
Narcotics police director General Luis Alberto Perez denied that the crash was caused by an attack from any illegal group, RCN Radio reported.
Among those wounded were a police commander and his two bodyguards along with the pilot and copilot.
They were all taken to San Vicente de Paul Hospital; however, there are still no details as to their current conditions.
According to the radio station, at least three of the wounded are to be transferred to Bogota.
The commander was on his way back from analyzing rebel clashes that killed a police official and wounded at least five others in the town of Saravena earlier Wednesday morning.
