A Continental Airlines flight bound from New Jersey to Colombia was diverted to Florida on Friday because of security concerns about a passenger, but the person was cleared by the FBI and the flight resumed, the U.S. Transportation Security Administration said.
“Continental Airlines Flight 881 from Newark International Airport to Bogota International Airport was diverted to Jacksonville International Airport due to a potential person of interest. The plane landed without incident at approximately 5:45 p.m.,” the TSA said in a statement.
“The passenger was cleared by the FBI and the flight is continuing to Bogota,” the TSA added.
The incident marks the latest in a series of U.S. air security scares since a botched December 25 bombing attempt aboard a Detroit-bound airliner. (Reuters)
