Colombian Foreign Minister Jaime Bermudez arrived in the Japanese capital of Tokyo on Friday to attend a LatAm-Asia summit and improve his country’s business relations with Asian economies.
The foreign minister told press he hopes his visit will improve Colombian relations with the region, attract investors to Colombia and help to establish a permanent political dialogue.
Bermudez stressed the developments Colombia has undergone in the past decades, and how the Uribe government has created a more investment-friendly environment.
“Colombia has a stable democracy, an independent central bank and fiscal incentives for foreign companies such as free trade zones,” Bermudez said.
While in Tokyo Bermudez will sign an investment protection pact with the Japanese Government.
