Prosecution lawyers placed Thursday 18 charges upon ex-paramilitary boss ‘Ernesto Baez’, including homicide, kidnapping, conspiracy and recruitment of minors.
Among the 18 criminal charges placed against the former paramilitary leader Ivan Roberto Duque, alias ‘Ernesto Baez’, was the kidnap of Liberal Senator Piedad Cordoba which took place in May 1999.
Duque was also charged with responsibility for the killings of five indigenous people in the Riosucio and Caldas regions as well as the murder of journalist Emeterio Rivas Rivas committed in the city of Barrancabermeja in April 2003.
The prosecution further implicated Duque in the deaths of a town mayor in the Caldas region and of a DAS intelligence agent, which also took place in 2003, reported news station Caracol Radio.
During the legal proceedings Duque accepted one count of conspiracy to commit crime.
