Colombian producers made a documentary on the Manizales Festival and sold the
film to Europe, where they hope to show a friendlier image
of Colombia.
Bullfighter Andres de los Rios, troubadours ‘Remolino’ and ‘Langaruto’, as well the Spanish candidate for the International Coffee Queen contest 2009 take part in the film wherein they tell the world how to live the Feria de Manizales, Colombia’s second biggest festival.
Fifteen days of celebrations are packed into the 100-minute documentary called Feria del Alma (Soul Fair).
The film was produced by the Manizales agency Seven Publicidad & Mercadeo and the Colombia Films association. “What we shot was with our own money and now we are looking for sponsors,” Lemus Velasquez, CEO of the agency, told newspaper LaPatria.com.
The documentary is already sold to a European manager who will place it in the “channels Voom HD and Living Premier with a coverage of 27 countries in the European Union. We are also in negotiations with Cinemax and Moviecity for the United States,” Velasquez said.
The documentary will premier in October in Manizales.
