Colombia on Thursday released a video showing men wearing uniforms of the Venezuelan
security forces meeting with two known FARC commanders. The footage
follows earlier accusations that the Venezuelan army is providing weapons to
the rebels.
In the video, the apparent policemen talk with two members of the FARC on Colombian soil and trade a car — allegedly stolen by criminals in Venezuela and recuperated by FARC rebels on Colombian soil — for gasoline.
FARC commander ‘Chiguiro’ of the rebels’ 36th front and ‘Guillermo’, according to Canal Caracol one of the most wanted members of the guerrillas, appear in the video.
During the trade, the supposed policemen cross the Orionoco river to enter Colombian soil and the guerrillas cross the same river to Venezuelan territory.
The video was given to Colombian media in the midst of a row over an expansion of U.S. military presence in Colombia and allegations Venezuelan authorities provided rocket launchers to the FARC.
