‘Martin Sombra’, veteran guerrilla and captured by Colombian
authorities in February 2008, feels abandoned by the FARC, the
organization he fought with for 44 years, he admitted in an interview
Thursday.
In an interview with RCN, the former guerrilla admitted feeling betrayed and left behind.
“I don’t know why they turned their back on me. I am not a doctor or a deserter, I never stole from the organization or have talked bullshit, I have been a responsible man. I’ve been stuck here a year now. In good faith I am washing dishes and the clothes other prisoners bring me and nothing else.”
‘Sombra’, one of the most prominent captured guerrillas the FARC want to exchange for 22 members of the security forces says he is willing to collaborate with Colombian Justice to avoid being extradited to the United States like other FARC members like ‘Sonia’ or ‘Simon Trinidad’.
The guerrilla will collaborate with justice “if they save me the trip to the other side. I have nothing to do with the ‘gringos’. I would just get into trouble, because I don’t speak English and another thing is that I never kidnapped anyone and I never fucked around with drug trafficking. I respond to justice as a guerrilla,”‘Sombra’, whose reale name is Helí Mejía Mendoza, told the television station.
