The prestigious Miss Valle 2012 competition officially began Tuesday with a presentation of the candidates dressed in bathing suits.
The terrace and swimming pool of the Hotel Intercontinental in Cali was turned into a scene of beauty as the contestants paraded in front of the press, judges and an invited audience.
The women wore swimming suits designed by the Cali-based designer Paula Saavedra and reportedly seemed comfortable despite the importance of the event. Carmen Lucia Aldana, a 20-year-old social communications student, even did a seemingly spontaneous parade in front of the cameras, reported the Cali daily El Pais.
The winner of the Miss Valle competition will be crowned on the 14th of June in Cali. She will thereafter represent the department in the nationwide Miss Colombia competition, to be held in the Caribbean city of Cartagena in November 2012.
