A Spanish court will open the investigation of five members of Basque
separatist movement ETA for allegedly having exchanged knowledge with
Colombian rebel group FARC.
According to Spanish press agency Efe, judge Eloy Velasco was declared competent to handling the case and has asked security forces to hand over the evidence about the possible FARC-ETA collaboration.
Spanish prosecutors say five members of the ETA spent time in Colombia and received training by FARC-guerrillas. They would also be involved in a plan to assassinate former Colombian President Andres Pastrana in Spain.
