The Colombian Government is to declare a state of social emergency to
combat the pyramid companies that have tricked thousands of Colombians
to invest their money in schemes, risking their life savings.
A high government official told Caracol Radio said the decision was taken after talks between the Presidency andofficials of the Interior and Justice Ministry.
The collapse of one of the pyramids already made more than thousands mostly poor Colombians lose US$290 million. Riots following the collapse left three people dead.
