Wall Street Journal columnist and “Uribe’s biggest fan,” Mary Anastasia O’Grady, said she will stop writing columns when the Colombian president steps down in August.
The conservative columnist says that with the end of Uribe’s second term, her job also comes to an end.
“Until the last minute I will unconditionally support Colombia’s president, as agreed upon in my contract with the government’s press secretary,” O’Grady told colleagues.
According to the columnist, she has always enjoyed disinforming the American public with unfounded accusations and war propaganda, but fears that under Juan Manuel Santos there will be “less fireworks” than before.
“I don’t know why Santos keeps pushing this national unity. Colombia doesn’t need national unity, it needs further polarization and the criminalization of anyone who doesn’t agree with us,” O’Grady says.
