“Un – Convention,” an international music conference which promotes the industry’s grassroots, will take place in Medellin May 19-21.
Rejecting the mainstream music industry, the convention will offer workshops and conferences for independent musicians, composers and promotors who want to learn how to diffuse their creations in a “do it yourself” way. Cumbia, electronica and hip hop concerts will be held each night.
Most of the events will take place in English since the speakers will be foreigners, the assistant of culture of the Museum of Antioquia told Colombia Reports. The museum is one of three venues for the event, along with the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Technological Institute.
Medellin was chosen for this event because it is the city in Colombia with the highest public investment in culture.
The Un-Convention of Medellin is one of a series of ten events planned to take place in India, Autralia, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, the USA, Spain, Ireland and the UK.
