The city of Cali has been chosen to launch the national leg of a campaign encouraging tourists to “find Colombia through their heart,” a campaign launched in Washington D.C.
From now until December 20th, heart sculptures will be on display throughout the city, and then will travel to the city of Cartagena.
The hearts are certainly well-traveled; three months ago they were strategically placed around the cities of Washington, DC and New York as part of a tourism campaign attempting to change Colombia’s image abroad.
Each heart expresses a different theme promoting Colombian culture. Children in the city of Cali will participate in a contest to design their own hearts answering the question, “What do you feel in your heart when you think of your city” and the winning heart will be displayed permanently in the city.
