For the first time in history the Caribbean city of Santa Marta played host to two international cruise ships in one day.

Salcedo said that 5,000 people, comprising of 3,000 passengers and 2,000 crew members, were in port from 7am to 5pm.

The mayor of Santa Marta said he was pleased with how smoothly the logistics of hosting 3,000 tourists had gone.
The influx of tourists into the laid back Caribbean port is refected in the 123% increase in the number of cruise ships docking in Santa Marta in the last six months.
