Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos reassured the country that he was recovering normally through his hospital window Thursday.
Newspaper El Tiempo posted the video of Santos greeting media through his window saying, “I’m recovering well fortunately…Everything went very well,” after his prostate surgery Wednesday.
President Santos also reiterated his appreciation for the support he received, “Again many, many thank yous for all the messages.”
The medical director of the hospital also expressed his satisfaction with the president’s recovery, saying that the president “continues to present a satisfactory outcome” and that he “is active, with stable vital signs and no complications.”
Santos will allegedly remain in the Santa Fe hospital until Saturday before being taken to the presidential palace to continue his recovery.
The president announced Monday he had prostate cancer and had surgery to remove the “small tumor” on Wednesday. He will allegedly not need chemotherapy.
