Real Cartagena suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 3-0 at Deportivo Pereira who in turn move into second place.
Cartagena proved unbeatable in their first nine games this season but their visit to Pereira was one they rather would not have made.
Pereira did not even need a minute for Daniel Neculman to score the opener and Leon Muñoz made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute. With five minutes to go, Julian Barahona netted the third and final goal.
Cartagena do remain in first place, five points ahead of Pereira.
Deportivo Cali kept hope alive with a 3-0 win over Boyaca Chico at Pascual Guerrero stadium.
Juan Dominguez opened the scoring in the 18th minute and Wilmer Parra doubled the advantage six minutes after the hour. Two minutes into added time, Luis Muriel scored the home side’s third to emphasize his team’s dominance.
