Jailed DMG director David Murcia refused to confirm his alleged support
for the re-election referendum Wednesday when he was heard by
magistrates of the Electoral Council.
Murcia had earlier said in an interview he had supported the referendum logistically and invested US$2 million in the project, but when asked about this by investigating magistrate Joaquín José Vives, he asserted to his right to remain silent.
According to Vives, the DMG director refuses to talk, because he fears for his and his family’s safety.
Murcia did not deny he would make a statement at one point, but that this would depend on the circumstances.
The organizers of the referendum said Tuesday Murcia was lying and only trying to discredit the referendum.
