Can a lawsuit mend a broken heart? A ten-year-old boy in eastern Colombia who sued his separated parents for not loving him seems to thinks so.
In a country not know for its respect for human rights, the Tuluá minor claimed his parents violated his right to be loved or, more precisely, he requested “protection of his right to be in a peaceful, tranquil place,” director of Citizen Care Unit of the local Ombudsman’s Office, Marilú Rubio, told Caracol Radio.
The boy, whose identity has not been released, filed the suit himself at the headquarters of the local Ombudsmen’s office, reported Spanish press agency EFE.
Upon receiving the complaint, authorities transferred the boy from custody of his father – who had left the child’s mother some time before to start a new family – to the care of state program Family Wellbeing.
