Colombian singer Juanes nearly walked away from his ‘Peace without Borders’ concert in Cuba just hours before it was scheduled, Miami media reported Tuesday.
According to newspaper El Nuevo Herald, a local radiostation aired a recording of Juanes angrily denouncing being shadowed while on the island.
“This is it, we’re leaving now! We’re very angry, very angry, very angry. We came here to sing to the young people of Cuba, and that’s why we are here. But we’ve encountered strong obstacles, and this is it!” the singer is heard saying in the recording.
“I just noticed that the person that brings me breakfast and drives my taxi also showed up at the concert, and now he’s there behind us, taking notes. I don’t want to go back to my room,” Juanes explains to Cuban officials.
The argument came to an end when Puerto Rican singer Olga Tañon took Juanes by the arm and pulled him away from the elevators and reminded him of his commitment to Cuban youth, El Nuevo Herald said.
