Heavy rains, floods and landslides that hit Colombia since September
cost the lives of 22 people so far, the Colombian Red Cross announced.
Half a million people were evacuated.
“Unfortunately the number of deaths in this second rainy season already is big. Twenty two deaths have already been registered,” Colombian Red Cross director Carlos Iván Márquez said Tuesday.
The rains have affected 199 municipalities in all parts of the country, Márquez said. 400 homes have been destroyed and 38,820 were severely damaged.
The rainy season is expected to last until mid December.
