Court workers’ union Asonal continues the
judicial strike, despite the official state of emergency that allows
the government to sack court workers that refuse to go back to work.
The government called a state of emergency to break the strike and force judges, prosecutors and court workers to pick up the work they left almost 40 days ago. According to government institutions the risk of being fired mademany court workers go back to work. This wasn’t confirmed by independent organizations.
Asonal says it is willing to negotiate with the government about the rise in wages it demands. 90 percent of the 40,000 court workers joined the strike that has affected hundreds of thousands of Colombians.
